Habit formation - what life experience gave you a lasting habit?

What life experience gave you a lasting habit?

Oyinbo man talk say it takes an average of 66 days to learn a new habit and 21 days to break an old habit.

They even went further to give us steps to guide us in habit formation. According to Ruth Penner in her article titled habit formation on https://www.ihomefitness.com, she explained 6 guidelines for habit formation. They include;
1. Write down your goal, and use the SMART principle.
2. Post that written goal somewhere that will act as a constant reminder
3. Recognize the underlying factors.
4. Aim to change only one habit at a time.
5. Take baby steps, don't try and do it all at once.
6. Repeat, repeat and repeat.

However, it is worth arguing that the above isn't true especially in a country like Nigeria.
Abeg! For 9ja, we beg to differ. These aren't true.
Wanna argue?

Chill first, let me give you some instances.
Sometimes, it takes one word, one knock on the head, one hot slap here, one experience in Nigeria to give you a new habit instantly.

For instance...
I remember a cousin of mine who had a habit of stealing meat from the pot, the day her dad caught her was the end of that bad habit she's been trying to break. How? You may want to ask. Her dad, my uncle dealt with her mercilessly, so much so that she dreads taking anything that is not her own till date. A big kudos to her dad.

What her dad gave her was simply a hot slap that pushed the meat and everything in her belly out of her mouth.

I remember a case of a student in one of the schools I taught; ha! He intentionally got all on every teacher's nerves and had a way of escaping punishment because of his parent's affluence.

He had his way till a particular teacher dealt with him for just an hour. His life never remained the same. Till day, he is the most responsible student in the school. An hour of draining drilling changed his life forever.

For many Nigerians staying in Lagos, Lagos 'sardine tight' traffic has taught them how to be punctual wherever they find themselves.

Wanna change you're an altitude or develop a new habit, don't look far, don't wait for the many days recommended by the oyinbo man. Come to Nigeria.

I pray you find that 9ja person or have that one Nigerian experience that will you a lasting good habit.

Na experience dey teach person pass for 9ja

Yours sincerely,
