INA SONKI 4

Image
INA SONKI                              (Episode 4) In death, there is the power to love and to hate. Oh! The cost of service to one's country who pays for it, the Corper or the government? ***** 'Màatáa! Màatáa! Màatáaaaa!!!'  Musa yelled at his wife. He had never raised his voice on his wife until that moment. He has been talking. He has been calm. He has endured but no one seemed to be listening to him anymore. Now, it's time to yell, time to repeat his words over and over again. Maybe this time, there could be a difference. He was tired of his son Abubakar. He was tired of seeing him sad over a stranger. He was tired of watching him lose interest over his multimillion company he would one day leave for him to inherit. He was tired that a mere woman, not even a northern woman, got his son's head upside down. He hated that lady. He wished he could find her and tell her off. He wished he could erase the memories of her f

40 reasons people go to church

40 reasons people go to church Praise the Lord somebody! Hallelujah! It's another Sunday. All churches worldwide would take attendance of their members and visitors today.  It is going to be glorious! But two questions on our minds as we prepare and get our clothes ready are these; why do people go to church?  What is the essence of church??  Below are some of the reasons why! 1.  People go to church because they are passionate about God, hence they love his house. 2. People go to church because they love calling down fire on their village people and church is a place to do so. 3. People go to church to slay. They just find it is a place where people can admire their clothes 4. People go to church because of their problems. They are tired of seeking solutions elsewhere for their problems 5. People go to church because of the church structure. Some churches building  are invitation cards on their own 6. People go to church for refreshment. O

She proposed in her heart never to have anything to do with Abubakar ever in her life. As she deleted every one of their pictures together, beautiful memories of their friendship flooded her brain.  One particular picture made her laughed hard, the one Abubakar was trying to help her maintain her balance on a single thick rope tied between two trees.  It was one of the  Man O war drills at Camp. He almost lost his balance at the detriment of losing some of the bones a

HOW TO DEAL WITH DISAPPOINTMENTS

Image
HOW TO DEAL WITH DISAPPOINTMENTS I took some time to observe one of my neighbours whom I admire; she's young beautiful, chubby,  adorable, sweet and likes asking questions till the saliva in her mouth runs dry.  We share one weakness in common, that is; we dream too much. Hers is worse.  Have you come across those annoying children, you know those really annoying children that talk about their dreams a lot, with mouth  running like an anus suffering from diarrhoea? Yeah, that's how she is.  Unlike Joseph, the dreamer, who sleeps and dreams my admirable neighbour is a daydreamer.  She is always talking about her future occupation dreams.  She dreams of taking the first position in the class. She dreams of buying helicopters for her mummy and daddy and then she  travelling to Dubia  this hour and landing in Turkey the next. She dreams of being the best......Nigeria has ever produced. She dreams of so so many things, not just about the future but about the cu

Episode one and two!  *INA SONKI ( A ❤❤❤❤ story)* Written by Munu Sarah *Episode one* Whatever holds us bound will one-day set us free. *** The rush, The push, The tears, The joys, The fears, The fresh remembrance of homes, The uncertain taste of faraway places, The loads here, there, people roaming everywhere, In the midst of all these, Abubakar searched tirelessly for his friend Rachel. He dialled her number again. It was still Switched off. 'Aboki na, let us go! '  Suleiman, his friend pulled him to the opposite direction. He followed Suleiman and stopped. He pondered for some minutes and shook his head. 'Aboki na, we will find her there' he pointed to the opposite direction. He dragged Suleiman and Suleiman followed him reluctantly. It was the last day at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation at Rivers camp. Only these two young corpe

PICKING THE POCKET

☠Street OT 101 PICKING THE POCKET 🕴🏻🕴🏻 The art and style of picking pockets requires more than just picking out from a pocket, it requires expertise, patience, smartness, calculation and right judgement...... Kunle is a tall lanky “Pickpocketer” that practices is trade under the bridge in the main hub of Lagos. In a special interview he shared with us his wealth of experience as a pickpocket. ✍🏻✍🏻. He wakes every morning like a normal lagosian going to his place of work, dressed smartly with a briefcase 💼 to match,he waits patiently at a bus station as he monitors _Patiently_ is likely victim *”I learnt to always study my victim in the rushing hour of Lagos, I mix gleefully with the crowd moving close to my victim, matching his/her gaze, as well as step, I identified the easy to pick valuable, while taking note of any possible reprisals from people nearby, and in a split seconds with the tripping technique that lagosians are now familiar with I pick up the initial valuable

Church Toasting: Brother A vs Brother B

FOR WE ARE NOT IGNORANT OF THE VARIOUS TECHNIQUES OUR CHURCH BROTHERS USE IN TOASTING OUR CHURCH SISTERS ... Toasting in churches is as old as my grandmother or even older.  I said, my grandmother because that's how my grandparent's relationship started.  As much as I will like to keep myself in denial about some extra curriculum activities that happen in the church of which toasting is part..l will not keep quiet today. I will say it hot hot! Just as there are different techniques of toasting in the world, there are also different techniques, even spiced by the Holy Spirit in the church. Today, I will be exposing two brothers: Brother A and Brother B. Brother A is the ' Songs of Solomon' kind of guy. Chai! This brother's mouth is overly sweet. Words do not fail him in describing how he feels towards the lady. He says things like 'How beautiful and pleasant you are, O loved one, with all your delights!', 'You are altogether beautiful, my l

LET GOD TAKE CHARGE

Image
Let God take charge! Calm down 'your mumu button dey God hand' Hahaha! Take a moment and look through these verses. The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. (Proverbs 21:1 KJV) Another version says; The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, He directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases (NIV) And another says; The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD like the rivers of water, He turns it wherever He wishes. (NKJV) Take another moment, think of the most powerful man alive; President Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Pope Francis, President Vladimir Putin, Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mark Zuckerberg, YOU! These very powerful men and all others are in God's hands. In Nigeria slang 'Their Mumu button dey God hand'. Like the Rivers....he is in control of them. He's like wind, no matter the depth or width of the sea, he controls them. This is q

Three weeks in Rivers state camp: the pains, the pleasures and the love affairs

My excitement as a corper 3 WEEKS IN RIVERS STATE CAMP: The pains, the pleasures and the love affairs. (A personal account) 16/08/2019 23:00pm Tick tick tick..the hands of the clock crawled. Boom! Boom! Boom! My heart panted. 17/08/2019 00:02 Finally! It's time to download my call up letter. Expectant+ excited+ joyful +sprinkles of fear= what I felt. Network and NEPA didn't disappoint. In seconds,  I had my call up letter downloaded. My joy was the like the feeling you get when you eat the bottom pot of sweet jollof rice. I had always dreamt of serving in Cross River state.  My heart  was filled with thanksgiving to God. 'The God that answereth my NYSC posting...!' That very moment, the beautiful places I have read about came alive in my imaginations. The exotic and assorted foods I would eat there made my mouth watered. Didn't Uncle Aniefiong say that any Calabar lady can snatch the husbands of those who didn't know how to cook?   Even mor
