DAIRY OF A SUNDAY CHURCH WANDERER (8)

Image
Hello everyone, my name is Ubulaba and I am just a Sunday Christian who tours round churches every Sunday and hope to settle down soon. Nothing to be proud of, someday, I hope to change.  Dear Dairy,  In a busy city like Lagos with the hustling and bustling of many activities, one barely have time to really think about somethings.  I took another look at Mr. Emeka’s Invitation on my email and thought about it again. The reality God’s goodness hit me like a ton of rocks. I was in awe of how God puts one on delay and when hope seems lost, he shows up in triples.  Mr. Emeka, one of my bosses in the office and his wife have been married for twenty years with no issues. He was a good looking man, well to do and women were always around him. He could have had any woman of his choice but he never did.  When God showed up, he showed up with three beautiful and adorable children.    What better place would I rather wander on a Sunday than his church with ...

Hello everyone, my name is Ubulaba and I am just a Sunday Christian who tours round churches every Sunday and hope to settle down soon. Nothing to be proud of, someday, I hope to change.  ******* Dear Dairy, It's another beautiful Sunday and I woke up with a lot of beautiful ideas of clothes to wear.  I laid them all out!  First outfit:  I didn't have the right shoes to wear with it, Second outfit:  the top looked somehow on my body Third outfit: Hmm...it didn't reflect my personality. Finally, I brought down my entire wardrobe.  I began another search for a church outfit.  By the time I finished ,bathed  and  dressed up, I looked like a model - just the way I desired but I was extra late. I decided to visit one of the churches I used to frequently visit. I was a worker there for two weeks before I resumed wandering.   I was so ashamed entering the church . The shame was more overwhelming than the pride in took in my outfit....

Hello everyone, my name is Ubulaba and I am just a Sunday Christian and a wanderer who have no church to call home. Nothing to be proud of, someday, I hope to change. *** Dear Dairy, The rays from today sun, shone and penetrated through the windscreen to my eyes, the scorching heat from the sun too was unbearable. It was a Sunday after all. ‘Driver, your AC no dey work?’ I asked the driver. ‘Madam no vex’ He responded. He quickly wound up the windows and turned on the AC. The cab started to cool but the sun rays did not stop shining into my eyes. I picked my sunglasses from my bag and wore it. I took off my hat so my head would cool too. I visited a church very far away from home because I did not want rumours going round in the neighbourhood that I am a church wanderer. Thank God for Google and Google map, it made the wandering an easy one. I saw one church online with a really beautiful architecture design. I read a few things about them and It seemed like my dream church so I ...

Hello everyone, my name is Ubulaba and I am just a Sunday Christian and a wanderer who have no church to call home. Nothing to be proud of, someday, I hope to change. *** image gotten from gettyimages I woke up around 8am this Sunday morning with a very big yawn. My head felt light and my body was heavy. I struggled to stand up but my legs were too weak to bear the weight.  I was overwhelmed internally and externally with the stress of yesterday’s work.  It was another Sunday and to be honest, I did not feel like going church. I thought to myself, ‘a little five minute sleep would me some good’ so I snoozed the alarm and crawled back into my duvet.   A little sleep, a little slumber with just two pressing of the snooze button, sleep had taken two hours of my life.   *** I hurriedly had a quick bath, did a quick make up and had a quick breakfast with two tablets of Paracetamol. I ran back to my room after finishing from the kitchen. I quickly searched f...

Hello everyone, my name is Ubulaba and I am just a Sunday Christian. Nothing to be proud of, someday, I hope to change. **** On today’s episode of my Sunday gist, you wouldn’t believe what happened to me in the two churches I visited. I was totally overwhelmed and exhausted from confusion to frustration and then to excitement at the end of the day. After what happened to me the other Sunday, I didn’t feel like going to church the next Sunday but I knew I just had to. My two neighbors, Abiodun and James convinced me to attend their churches. Both of their churches had special youth services at different hours so I was super excited to join both of them  *** ‘Shubaba laba kaya kudo!!! Na nan …ahopoopppp….hfiiednni’ I squinted from the back to see the pastor praying with so much vigour. He used his brown handkerchief to clean some sweats gathering on his forehead down to his neck.  He walked zealously to and fro the pulpit like a soldier training for war.   Almost every...

Hello everyone, my name is Ubulaba and I am just a Sunday Christian. Nothing to be proud , someday, I hope to change. *** I have heard over time again and again when people say the church is like an hospital, it is not everyone who goes there that is well. I never believed it because I have never been able to comprehend what people who aren’t Christians are doing in churches until that Sunday *** Let me tell you the story *** ‘Praise the Lord somebody!!!’ The response of the congregation was louder than the microphone. It  w as my first Sunday at that particular church. No one invited me, I woke up on that Sunday morning and I desired a different Sunday service so I slayed up, stewed up and peppered up with my styled curly hair, ankara blazer, a black top inside and ankara skirt to match. I glammed up my looks with yellow heels and golden accessories . You know what they say about first time impression, I wanted to make a memorable one so I bathed myself with almost half container ...
